Partner Spotlight:
Family Resource Centers

The Family Resource Centers of NH are essential organizations that provide cradle to grave services to local families. LRCD is grateful for our partnership and close working relationships with multiple centers, including Lakes Region Community Services Family Resource Center in Laconia, Children Unlimited in Conway, Whole Village Family Resource Center in Plymouth, and the Greater Tilton Area Family Resource Center (now named Archways) in Tilton.

Family Resource Centers offer a number of programs that help LRCD tenants thrive:
  • Early Support Services: Provides resources and home visits to families with children aged 0-3 with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Parenting Education: Workshops build parenting skills, while providing free childcare and dinner.
  • Playgroups: For families with children ages 0-5. Groups bring parents, guardians, and children together on a weekly basis.
  • Kinship Navigation: Essential resources and support for grandparents and caregivers taking care of young children. LRCD residents have utilized this program to find emotional support, receive education, and connect with additional resources through Family Resource Kinship Navigators.
  • Emergency & Crisis Support: Each center has staff that offer household case management, crisis work, and in some cases, triage services for abuse situations. Emergency funds are also available for families in crisis.

Harvey Heights Update

It's been a busy summer at Harvey Heights in Meredith as renovations continue at the property. The team from North Branch Construction is much loved by tenants.

Recently, a group of residents surprised Project Superintendent Darren Finch on his birthday! Happy Birthday, Darren. Thank you to you and your team for the outstanding job you are doing on this project.

Renovations continue moving ahead on schedule, thanks to an outstanding team. The last group of existing tenants is moving now, enabling renovations to begin on the last four apartments. Site work is wrapping up before the ground freezes, including a new parking lot, a new patio where tenants can gather, a fence around the playground, and improvements to the stormwater drainage system. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year!

Wood & Clay Supports Gale School Project

Picture
Wood & Clay, a local company that specializes in custom home construction and renovations in the Lakes Region, has purchased another $25,000 in New Hampshire business tax credits to support the redevelopment of the Gale School in Belmont. Just last year, they purchased $50,000. The project will transform the historic schoolhouse into a community facility that will include on the second floor a new program center for Lakes Region Community Services (LRCS).

Wood & Clay, based in Gilford, is owned by husband and wife team Kevin Beland and Shannon Robinson-Beland.

LRCD and LRCS are partnering to sell the tax credits to local businesses. We have $160,000 left to sell in order to move ahead with construction. To purchase tax credits for the Gale School project, contact Carmen Lorentz at (603) 524-0747, ext 110. READ MORE...
